Trip to Columbus, Ohio

Over Labor Day weekend, Dustin and I drove the 8 hour trip to Columbus, Ohio to stay the weekend with Karianne and Greg (Dustin's sister) before they moved back to Utah. Dustin and I don't do very well when we are forced to stay in the car for long periods of time, so we spent the first night in Charleston, West Virgina - a very interesting town, kinda cute, but kinda odd at the same time. On our way home, we stopped again for a short break and found a cute quilt shop and used book store. We both came away with small purchases, which made us happy, and changed our mind about Charleston. Plus, there was the neat, old bridge that separates West Virgina and Ohio. We spent a few days in Ohio, just relaxing, playing games, and spending time together. We did explore the city a little (by that I mean, we found a killer Yarn store, used book store, and chocolate store - can you tell where are interests are?), and ate lunch at Katzinger's Deli in German Village. We were not that impressed, but maybe it was just a little too "authentic" for our tastes. Dustin and I attended the Columbus Temple, which is surprisingly similar to the Raleigh Temple. We almost felt like we were still in NC. We really had a fun, relaxing weekend and it was great to spend time with Karianne and Greg. And to end the weekend, we were delighted with a beautiful sunset about an hour before we arrived back home.
Thanks Karianne and Greg for letting us come stay with you. We wish you all the best for your new adventures in Utah.

  1. So fun to see all your photos - sounds like a great time. They will miss living within driving distance of you all! I'll have to come for a visit soon sometime!
