New York City - Day 2

Did I ever mention to you that our hotel was right next to the World Trade Towers? Yes, like brand new-had to be re-built after 9/11-smack dab next to the twin towers- hotel. We were so excited, until we got there and realized that they are working on site 24/7. Okay, so maybe not 24/7, but when you get woken up at 3 am to the sound of jack hammers and it doesn't stop until midnight, it sure does feel like 24/7. Needless to say, we didn't get very much sleep at our hotel.

That didn't stop us from having enough energy to explore the city as much as we could.  On day two, we started out by heading to the Staten Island Ferry.  We got there and missed the boat by seconds and had to wait for the second one.  It was worth it cause we got to see some pretty good views of the city and the statue of liberty. It was cloudy and rainy, but we still had fun.

The next stop was Wall Street.  Just after we visited this, it started to pour rain like crazy. We ducked into Dean and Deluca to wait it out, which was fine by me.

Can you believe we were the only riders on the subway?
No vacation is complete without a trip to a yarn store and we hit the mother-load of yarn stores- Purl Soho!  YUM!
I could have stayed here all day!
We took our fist visit to the flat iron building, but it wouldn't be our only visit.  This was Dustin's favorite thing during our trip.
Flat Iron Building
So yummy! We went back twice!

At the end of the day, we decided to try our luck with the lottery for Wicked.  We were the first to arrive, but then the crowds poured in.  Turns out we were not so lucky, and we away empty handed.  Oh well, it was worth a shot.  We are still going to go see it when it comes to Raleigh -I just really wanted to see it on Broadway.

Sorry for the last video - Dustin didn't realize that it doesn't flip when you turn the camera so most of it is sideways.  Anyway, you get the idea.
