Alabama - Family Vacation

Back in June, we went to Alabama for a family reunion with D's side of the family.  It was the first time in a long time that all of the family was able to get together and it was really nice to get to see everyone. We even had the opportunity to take a few family photos, which hasn't happened for about 3 years.

D's uncle has a lake house on Smith Lake, about an hour and a half north of Birmingham, where everyone got together for the week.  D and I managed to score an awesome bed and breakfast not too far away.  We booked the airstream trailer!  Yep, how cool is that?  It was an old 60's airstream trailer that has been all over the US and now is retired here and has been slightly renovated. It  had it's own enclosed patio, and outdoor shower.  It was really cozy and we had so much fun.

On the second night we got to stay in a different suite that overlooked the lake.  It was equally amazing! The breakfast was excellent and very tasty.  They even had kayaks that we took out one morning after breakfast. If we ever go back for a family vacation to AL we will definitely be booking our stay at this B&B again.

Probably my favorite part of the trip (it was, after all, about 10.5 hours in the car) was when we stopped at the World of Coke in Atlanta, GA.  I'm a huge coke fan and so this was the ultimate day for me!  The best part... the coke tasting room where you can sample coke products from all over the world.  My favorite was the green apple flavored soda that you can find in Asia.
Overall we had a great time and it was nice to have all of the family together! And now we can add Alabama to our list of travels!
